{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-441.215","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 441.215","heading":"Jail budget preparation.","body":"(1) By April 1 of each year, the county judge/executive, county treasurer, and jailer\nshall prepare and submit to the fiscal court a proposed line item jail budget and an\nestimate of revenues for jail operations from federal, state, and local sources. The\nproposed jail budget and estimate of revenues shall be included in the proposed\ncounty budget and investigated by the fiscal court as provided in KRS 68.240.\n(2) The state local finance officer shall supervise and direct the form and classifications\nof the line item jail budget and estimate of jail revenues.\n(3) The fiscal court shall consult with the jailer prior to any amendment of the jail\nbudget. The fiscal court shall possess sole authority to transfer funds between line\nitems.\n(4) If, in the opinion of th e jailer, the jail budget as proposed or as amended by the\nfiscal court, fails to adequately provide for the safe and secure operation of the jail\nor the care of prisoners, the jailer shall submit a written statement of his concerns\nalong with any available documentation, to the fiscal court and, if the jail holds state\nprisoners, to the Department of Corrections.","path":["KRS Chapter 441"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=19331","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:55Z","sha256":"db2e7f6fe22decd9910b4b6da4d341704cc84d5d4bd00fac5f0ec19c193b511c","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-441.210","next":"us-ky/krs-441.220"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
