{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-441.610","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 441.610","heading":"Legislative intent -- Additional and alternative nature.","body":"(1) KRS 441.625 to 441.695 is intended solely to provide an additional and alternative\nmethod of constructing, reconstructing, improving, or repairing and financing jails\nand appurtenant facilities for any local government in this state to the end that such\nprojects expedite the provision of safe and proper facilities by a local government\nfor the incarceration of prisoners as defined by KRS 441.005. Nothing in KRS\n441.625 to 441.695 shall be construed as prohibiting a local government from\nproviding for the construction, reconstruction, improvement, or repair and financing\nof a jail and appurtenant facilities as may be otherwise provided by law.\n(2) Nothing in KRS 441.625 to 441.695 shall be construed as prohibiting two (2) or\nmore local governments from entering into a cooperative agreement for the purpose\nof participating with the authority in providing for the construction, reconstruction,\nimprovement, or repair and financing of a jail and appurtenant facilities for the use\nand benefit of all local government s agreeing to the cooperative undertaking, but\nthe authority shall determine the number and location of regional jails and regional\ndetention centers, as authorized by KRS 441.625.\n(3) Subsection (2) of this section is intended solely as an alternative met hod to KRS\n65.210 to 65.300.","path":["KRS Chapter 441"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=19363","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:55Z","sha256":"f33f4529c4d9d45e7298c86e7ba57643051190ae66e90b30a197b69e3c71efe0","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-441.605","next":"us-ky/krs-441.615"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
