{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-45.231","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 45.231","heading":"Payment of prior year claims.","body":"(1) Any claim against any agency, department, or budget unit not presented or\nencumbered for payment within the fiscal year in which the obligation was incurred\nmay, after determination by the secretary of the Finance and Administration\nCabinet, be found to be  a valid claim against the Commonwealth, and may be\nauthorized for payment out of the appropriation for the prior year claims, provided\nthat the agency, department, or budget unit had an available balance sufficient to\npay the obligation at the close of th e fiscal year in which the obligation was\nincurred. All claims authorized to be paid under this section shall be limited to\nthose incurred during the two (2) preceding fiscal years, and the total of such claims\npaid for any one (1) agency, department, or b udget unit shall not exceed the\navailable balance remaining to the credit of such agency, department, or budget unit\nat the close of the fiscal year in which the obligations were incurred.\n(2) Any claim incurred against any revolving, trust or agency fund account of any\ndepartment or agency and authorized to be paid under subsection (1) of this section\nshall be charged against the current balance to the credit in such revolving, trust or\nagency fund account, and not the general expenditure fund.","path":["KRS Chapter 45"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=22204","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:04Z","sha256":"ce6a3f5590bc7d4f5f0b3b01c02b52f4921b2316380db44c091d1223bbb6cf7e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-45.230","next":"us-ky/krs-45.235"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
