{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-456.090","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 456.090","heading":"Law enforcement to assist protective order petitioner and victim of dating","body":"violence and abuse, sexual assault, or stalking -- Statewide enforcement -- Civil\nand criminal immunity.\n(1) A court issuing an interpersonal protective order shall direct the appropriate law\nenforcement agency to assist the petitioner in having the provisions of the order\ncomplied with.\n(2) When a law enforcement officer has reason to suspect that a person has been the\nvictim of dating violence and abuse, sexual assa ult, or stalking, the officer shall use\nall reasonable means to provide assistance to the victim, including but not limited\nto:\n(a) Remaining at the location of the call for assistance so long as the officer\nreasonably suspects there is danger to the physi cal safety of individuals there\nwithout the presence of a law enforcement officer;\n(b) Assisting the victim in obtaining medical treatment, including transporting the\nvictim to the nearest medical facility capable of providing the necessary\ntreatment;\n(c) Advising the victim immediately of the rights available to them, including the\nprovisions of this chapter; and\n(d) Completing a JC -3 form, or its equivalent replacement, and providing the\ninformation to the Criminal Justice Statistical Analysis Center purs uant to\nKRS 209A.110.\n(3) Orders of protection shall be enforced in any county of the Commonwealth.\n(4) Officers acting in good faith under this chapter shall be immune from criminal and\ncivil liability.","path":["KRS Chapter 456"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=53170","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:59Z","sha256":"7fce57dc42c18687481dadbd49f27d4a096d8f16298241abf6bba442cafef8ab","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-456.080","next":"us-ky/krs-456.100"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
