{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-456.170","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 456.170","heading":"Notice to court of foreign protective order's expiration, vacation,","body":"modification, or other change.\n(1) A person who has filed a foreign protective order in a court in Kentucky is under a\ncontinuing obligation to inform the court of any expiration, v acation, modification,\nor other change in the order which the person filing the order has received from the\nissuing foreign court.\n(2) A person who has filed a foreign protective order in a court in Kentucky shall,\nwithin two (2) working days of the occurr ence of any event specified in subsection\n(1) of this section, notify the clerk of the court in which the foreign protective order\nwas filed of the fact of the changed order and present the clerk with a copy of the\norder for authentication as provided in t his chapter. The clerk shall immediately\nnotify the Law Information Network of Kentucky entering agency of the\nmodification.\n(3) No court in Kentucky and no peace officer in Kentucky shall be expected to enforce\na provision of a foreign protective order wh ich has been the subject of any action\nspecified in subsection (1) of this section, unless proper notice has been given in\naccordance with this section.\n(4) Intentional failure of a person who has filed a foreign protective order to make the\nnotifications required by this section in the manner required by this section shall\nconstitute contempt of court and may be grounds for an appropriate civil action\nbrought by any person damaged by the intentional act of omission by the person\nfailing to act.","path":["KRS Chapter 456"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=44783","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:59Z","sha256":"236ff4a7890aaa931770400c919d7f46c9ae315604a1b6ce4576435af17b59f8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-456.160","next":"us-ky/krs-456.180"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
