{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-45a.047","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 45A.047","heading":"Disposition of firearms or ammunition owned by state agency --","body":"Disposition of proceeds upon sale -- Restriction on purchase of body armor for\nservice animal.\n(1) When an agency of Kentucky state government or a public university safety and\nsecurity department organized pursuant to KRS 164.950 disposes of firearms or\nammunition owned by that agency, the disposition shall be by:\n(a) Public auction to persons who are eligible under federal law to purchase the\ntype of firearm or ammunition;\n(b) Trade to the federally licensed firearms dealer providing new firearms or\nammunition to the agency;\n(c) Transfer to another government agency or government -operated museum in\nKentucky for official use or display; or\n(d) Sale to a current or retiring employee as authorized by law.\n(2) If the firearms or ammunition are sold, the proceeds of the sale shall be utilized\nsolely for the purchase of body armor for officers meeting or exceeding National\nInstitute of Justice standards, firearms, ammunition, or range facilitie s, or a\ncombination thereof, by the agency of government.
