{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-48.150","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 48.150","heading":"Appropriations to address unexpected emergencies and contingencies.","body":"(1) As used in this section, \"unexpected emergencies and contingencies\" includes but is\nnot limited to natural or man -made disasters, civil disorders, court orders requiring\nor resulting in the expenditure of state funds, or other related causes.\n(2) Any appropriations made in an enacted branch budget bill to address unexpected\nemergencies and contingencies:\n(a) Shall not be expended for contingencies relating to capital construction\nprojects or major items of equipment as defined by KRS 45.770; and\n(b) Shall n ot be expended unless appropriations made for the same or similar\npurposes have been exhausted.\n(3) Each branch of government shall report expenditures for unexpected emergencies\nand contingencies, whether paid from appropriated funds or as a necessary\ngovernmental expenditure, to the standing appropriations committees of the General\nAssembly or the Interim Joint Committee on Appropriations and Revenue, as\nappropriate.","path":["KRS Chapter 48"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=22549","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:09Z","sha256":"297d318b63b8e8922752112e8fad63e7c43f18f8606b63889d275bb2c00ff5fc","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-48.140","next":"us-ky/krs-48.160"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
