{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-5.010","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 5.010","heading":"Explanation of sources -- Official maps.","body":"For the purpose of this chapter:\n(1) The boundaries of the legislative districts created by this chapter shall be those\nshown on the maps generated by the Legislative Research Commission's geographic\ninformation system to accompany a redistricting plan enacted into law. The official\ncopies of these maps shall be on file with the State Board of Elections. A duplicate\nset of maps and associated population information shall be retained by the\nLegislative Research Commission.\n(2) (a) Designated precincts are those precincts in existence on Januar y 1, 2020.\nPrecinct boundaries shown in the maps referred to in subsection (1) of this\nsection are taken from county precinct maps and verified and corrected by the\nLegislative Research Commission staff in consultation with county election\nofficials.\n(b) Census tracts and blocks shown in the maps referred to in subsection (1) of\nthis section are those utilized for the making of the 2020 United States\nCensus.\n(c) Population data utilized for redistricting is the 2020 United States Census Pub.\nL. 94-171 population data that was deemed to be official by the United States\nSecretary of Commerce on or before July 15, 2021, and election precinct\npopulation data prepared by the Legislative Research Commission staff from\nthe official Pub.
