{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-506.060","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 506.060","heading":"Criminal solicitation or conspiracy -- Defense of renunciation.","body":"(1) In any prosecution for criminal solicitation or criminal conspiracy in which the\ncrime solicited or the crime contemplated by the conspiracy was not in fact\ncommitted, it is a defense that, under circumstances manifesting a voluntary and\ncomplete renunciat ion of his criminal purpose, the defendant prevented the\ncommission of the crime.\n(2) A renunciation is not \"voluntary and complete\" within the meaning of this section\nwhen it is motivated in whole or in part by:\n(a) A belief that circumstances exist whi ch pose a particular threat of\napprehension or detection of the accused or another participant in the criminal\nenterprise or which render more difficult the accomplishment of the criminal\npurpose; or\n(b) A decision to postpone the criminal conduct until a nother time or to transfer\nthe criminal effort to another victim or another but similar object.","path":["KRS Chapter 506"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=19706","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:00Z","sha256":"0f67a7c5e420ae94936b7fda7bf4520c074bfe06bc1ffac35c435b9072c5f75f","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-506.050","next":"us-ky/krs-506.070"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
