{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-507.030","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 507.030","heading":"Manslaughter in the first degree.","body":"(1) A person is guilty of manslaughter in the first degree when:\n(a) With intent to cause serious physical injury to another person, he or she\ncauses the death of such person or of a third person;\n(b) With intent to cause the death of another person, he or she  causes the death of\nsuch person or of a third person under circumstances which do not constitute\nmurder because he or she acts under the influence of extreme emotional\ndisturbance, as defined in subsection (1)(a) of KRS 507.020;\n(c) Through circumstances not otherwise constituting the offense of murder, he or\nshe intentionally abuses or neglects another person or knowingly permits\nanother person of whom he or she has actual custody to be abused or\nneglected and thereby causes death to a person twelve (12) years of age or\nless, or who is physically helpless or mentally helpless; or\n(d) He or she knowingly sells fentanyl or a fentanyl derivative to another person,\nand the injection, ingestion, inhalation, or other introduction of the fentanyl or\nfentanyl derivative causes the death of the person.\n(2) Manslaughter in the first degree is a Class B felony.","path":["KRS Chapter 507"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57476","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:01Z","sha256":"d709141eeb3577b27c470491fd2bcc4cf6c5a8ed8109f6f89132ebb1951d0133","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-507.020","next":"us-ky/krs-507.040"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
