{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-508.160","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 508.160","heading":"Disarming a peace officer -- Penalty -- Applicability.","body":"(1) A person is guilty of disarming a peace officer when he intentionally:\n(a) Removes a firearm or other deadly weapon from the person of a peace officer\nwhen the peace officer is acting within the scope of his official duties; or\n(b) Deprives a peace officer  of the officer's use of a firearm or deadly weapon\nwhen the peace officer is acting within the scope of his official duties.\n(2) Disarming a peace officer is a Class D felony.\n(3) The provisions of this section shall not apply when:\n(a) The defendant does  not know or could not reasonably have known that the\nperson disarmed was a peace officer; or\n(b) The peace officer was, at the time of the disarming or incident thereto,\nengaged in felonious conduct.","path":["KRS Chapter 508"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=19747","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:01Z","sha256":"454da9c2ec38abde1e377854e47b275c19bd828096213047f685ab5ac2b89863","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-508.155","next":"us-ky/krs-508.170"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
