{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-512.090","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 512.090","heading":"Unlawful acts relating to acquiring metals.","body":"(1) A person is guilty of unlawful acts relating to acquiring metals when the person\nintentionally and without permission cuts, mutilates, defaces, or otherwise injures\nany personal or real property of another, including any fixtures or improvements,\nfor the purpose of obtaining any restricted metal, nonferrous metal, or ferrous metal\nas defined in KRS 433.900, in any amount.\n(2) Unlawful acts relating to acquiring metals is:\n(a) A Class B misdemeanor with a fine of not more than two hundred fifty dollars\n($250) or imprisonment in the county jail for less than ninety (90) days, or\nboth, if the direct injury to the property, the amount of loss in value to the\nproperty, the amount of repairs necessary to return the property to its condition\nbefore the act, or the property loss, including fixtures or improvements, is less\nthan three thousand dollars ($3,000); or\n(b) A Class D felony with a fine of not less than one thousand dollars ($1,000)\nand not more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000) or double his or her gain\nfrom commission of the offense, whichever is the greater, or imprisonment for\nnot less than one (1) year but not more than five (5) years, or both, if the direct\ninjury to the property, the amount of loss in value to the property, the amount\nof repairs necessary to return the property to its condition before the act, or the\nproperty loss, including fixtures or improvements, is three thousand dollars\n($3,000) or more.","path":["KRS Chapter 512"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=40490","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:02Z","sha256":"b866984a46ff1e2a24c62abc8f22a198b689bd122230673f19521600f1027fc2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-512.080","next":"us-ky/krs-513.010"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
