{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-513.030","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 513.030","heading":"Arson in the second degree.","body":"(1) A person is guilty of arson in the second degree when he starts a fire or causes an\nexplosion with intent to destroy or damage a building:\n(a) Of another; or\n(b) Of his own or of another, to collect or facilitate the collection of insurance\nproceeds for such loss.\n(2) In any prosecution under this section, it is a defense that:\n(a) No person other than the defendant had a possessory or proprietary interest in\nthe building, or, if other persons had such an interest, all of them consented to\nthe defendant's conduct; and\n(b) The defendant's sole intent was to destroy or damage the building for a lawful\npurpose.\n(3) Arson in the second degree is a Class B felony.","path":["KRS Chapter 513"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=19799","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:02Z","sha256":"c9356ce459af172856a7f7f59644de4bdc888e7ec0916e42489c92f42a170670","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-513.020","next":"us-ky/krs-513.040"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
