{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-515.020","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 515.020","heading":"Robbery in the first degree.","body":"(1) A person is guilty of robbery in the first degree when, in the course of committing\ntheft, he or she uses or threatens the immediate use of physical force upon another\nperson with intent to accomplish the theft and when he or she:\n(a) Causes physical injury to any person who is not a participant in the crime; or\n(b) Is armed with a deadly weapon; or\n(c) Uses or threatens the immediate use of a dangerous instrument upon any\nperson who is not a participant in the crime.\n(2) Robbery in the first degree is a Cl ass B felony, unless the offense occurs during a\ndeclared emergency as defined by KRS 39A.020 arising from a natural or man -\nmade disaster, within the area covered by the emergency declaration, and within the\narea impacted by the disaster, in which case it is a Class A felony.","path":["KRS Chapter 515"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=52951","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:02Z","sha256":"19e823f4a002ffbe02a4705f80753070d6fe72f15f81a54906118ac3cc942ab3","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-515.010","next":"us-ky/krs-515.030"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
