{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-516.030","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 516.030","heading":"Forgery in the second degree.","body":"(1) A person is guilty of forgery in the second degree when, with intent to defraud,\ndeceive or injure another, he falsely makes, completes or alters a written instrument,\nor in the commission of a human trafficking offense as described in KRS 529.100\nor 529.1 10, coerces another person to falsely make, complete, or alter a written\ninstrument, which is or purports to be or which is calculated to become or to\nrepresent when completed:\n(a) A deed, will, codicil, contract, assignment, commercial instrument, credit card\nor other instrument which does or may evidence, create, transfer, terminate or\notherwise affect a legal right, interest, obligation or status; or\n(b) A public record or an instrument filed or required or authorized by law to be\nfiled in or with a public office or public employee; or\n(c) A written instrument officially issued or created by a public office, public\nemployee or governmental agency.\n(2) Forgery in the second degree is a Class D felony.","path":["KRS Chapter 516"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=41857","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:02Z","sha256":"9706d616606b85e3a5396e8accf6d6cd4e83bbbaec87b11b6b50aa016cfda389","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-516.020","next":"us-ky/krs-516.040"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
