{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-517.020","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 517.020","heading":"Deceptive business practices.","body":"(1) A person is guilty of deceptive business practices when, in the course of engaging in\na business, occupation or profession, he knowingly:\n(a) Uses or possesses for use a false weight or measure or any other device for\nfalsely determining or recording any quality or quantity; or\n(b) Sells, offers or exposes for sale, or delivers less than the represented quantity\nof any commodity or service; or\n(c) Takes or attempts to take more than the represented quantity of any\ncommodity, thing or service when as a bu yer, agency or receiver he furnishes\nthe weight, measure, or weighing or measuring device by means of which the\namount of the commodity, thing or service is determined; or\n(d) Sells, offers or exposes for sale adulterated commodities; or\n(e) Sells, offers or exposes for sale mislabeled commodities.\n(2) Deceptive business practices is a Class A misdemeanor.","path":["KRS Chapter 517"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=19838","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:02Z","sha256":"eaf2239b9ba7526f86aec5ef73aa52473ac11c5058dc31dd73d4ecb24b769a0b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-517.010","next":"us-ky/krs-517.030"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
