{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-518.010","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 518.010","heading":"Definitions for chapter.","body":"The following definitions apply in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Benefit\" means gain or advantage to the beneficiary or to a third person pursuant to\nthe desire or consent of the beneficiary.\n(2) \"Event\" means a sports contest o r other public performance to which the general\npublic is not admitted without consideration.\n(3) \"Public performance\" means any form of entertainment other than a sports contest\ninvolving machines, persons, animals, or objects that is viewed by the public.\n(4) \"Sports contest\" means any professional or amateur sport, athletic game or contest,\nor race or contest involving machines, persons, animals, or objects that is viewed by\nthe public.\n(5) \"Sports official\" means any person who acts or expects to act in  a sports contest as\nan umpire, referee, or judge, or otherwise to officiate at a sports contest.\n(6) \"Sports participant\" means any person who participates or expects to participate in a\nsports contest as a player, contestant, or member of a team, or as a  coach, manager,\ntrainer or other person directly associated with a player, contestant, or team.","path":["KRS Chapter 518"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=19849","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:02Z","sha256":"62a53e064bed386c7684ac1242559ac545d7de09a10e7448224ba5c0f31e0b69","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-517.130","next":"us-ky/krs-518.020"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
