{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-520.015","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 520.015","heading":"Attempting to escape from penitentiary.","body":"(1) A person is guilty of attempting to escape from the penitentiary when he or she:\n(a) Conceals himself or herself within the walls of the penitentiary;\n(b) Attempts to scale the enclosure surrounding the penitentiary;\n(c) Flees from whatever bounds he or s he may be assigned, whether under guard\nor as a trusty;\n(d) Escapes from a locked cell, dormitory, hospital or other lockup in the\npenitentiary;\n(e) Escapes from one part of the penitentiary to another;\n(f) Does any other act in furtherance of an escape from the penitentiary;\n(g) Obstructs, disables, tampers with, removes, damages, or destroys any video\nrecording or monitoring device within the penitentiary; or\n(h) Does any act or omission constituting criminal attempt under KRS 506.010.\n(2) Attempting to escape from the penitentiary is a Class D felony.\n(3) No penalty provision of KRS 506.010 shall apply to an offense committed under\nthis section.","path":["KRS Chapter 520"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=55483","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:03Z","sha256":"3f2729c1cda08187a412dbead2e154a90b5ed8cf48ba2da257ab430a757f687c","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-520.010","next":"us-ky/krs-520.020"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
