{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-520.100","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 520.100","heading":"Fleeing or evading police in the second degree.","body":"(1) A person is guilty of fleeing or evading police in the second degree when:\n(a) As a pedestrian, and with intent to elude or flee the person knowingly or\nwantonly disobeys a direction to stop given by a person recognized to be a\npeace officer who has an art iculable reasonable suspicion that a crime has\nbeen committed by the person fleeing, and in fleeing or eluding the person is\nthe cause of physical injury to any person; or\n(b) While operating a motor vehicle with intent to elude or flee, the person\nknowingly or wantonly disobeys a recognized direction to stop his or her\nvehicle, given by a person recognized to be a peace officer.\n(2) No offense is committed under this section when the conduct involved constitutes a\nfailure to comply with a directive of a traffic control officer.\n(3) Fleeing or evading police in the second degree is a Class D felony and the\ndefendant shall not be released on probation, shock probation, conditional\ndischarge, or parole until he or she has served at least fifty percent (50%) of  the\nsentence imposed.","path":["KRS Chapter 520"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=55479","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:03Z","sha256":"2e8caa090cbbd38564c0a66ce2f2772221955cd8768307807c66c3ae1ff4a036","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-520.095","next":"us-ky/krs-520.105"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
