{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-524.055","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 524.055","heading":"Retaliating against a participant in the legal process.","body":"(1) A person is guilty of retaliating against a participant in the legal process when he or\nshe engages or threatens to engage in conduct causing or intended to cause bodily\ninjury or damage to the tangible property of a participant in the legal process or a\nperson he or she believes may be called as a participant in the legal process in any\nofficial proceeding or because the person has participated in a legal proceeding:\n(a) Attending an official proceeding, or giving or producing any testimony,\nrecord, document, or other object produced at that proceeding;\n(b) Giving information to a law enforcement officer relating to the possible\ncommission of an offense or a violation of conditions of probation, parole, or\nrelease pending judicial proceedings;\n(c) Vote, decision, or opinion; or\n(d) Performance of his or her duty.\n(2) Retaliating against a participant in the legal process is a Class D felony.\n(3) In order for a person to be convicted of a violation of this section, the act against a\nparticipant in the legal p rocess or the immediate family of a participant in the legal\nprocess shall be related to the performance of a duty or role played by the\nparticipant in the legal process.","path":["KRS Chapter 524"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=19909","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:03Z","sha256":"7377a3c6f624356b03b736e01dfde944cfa5d64a211cd9f8cb993b23ba4de5d8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-524.050","next":"us-ky/krs-524.060"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
