{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-525.115","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 525.115","heading":"Violating graves.","body":"(1) A person is guilty of violating graves when he intentionally:\n(a) Mutilates the graves, monuments, fences, shrubbery, ornaments, grounds, or\nbuildings in or enclosing any cemetery or place of sepulture; or\n(b) Violates the grave of any person by destroying , removing, or damaging the\nheadstone or footstone, or the tomb over the enclosure protecting any grave;\nor\n(c) Digs into or plows over or removes any ornament, shrubbery, or flower placed\nupon any grave or lot.\n(2) The provisions of subsection (1) of this  section shall not apply to ordinary\nmaintenance and care of a cemetery nor the removal and relocation of graves\npursuant to procedures authorized by and in accordance with applicable statutes.\n(3) Violating graves is a Class D felony.\n(4) The court shall order the defendant to restore the cemetery to its pre -damage\ncondition.","path":["KRS Chapter 525"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=19933","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:04Z","sha256":"857fcaf1ef65d65fc807a2f02d3aff9b3989deb349124bbe087397b1ad8232d2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-525.113","next":"us-ky/krs-525.120"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
