{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-527.090","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 527.090","heading":"Fraudulent firearm transaction.","body":"(1) As used in this section:\n(a) \"Licensed dealer\" means a person who is licensed pursuant to 18 U.S.C. sec.\n923 and pursuant to any laws of this Commonwealth and engages in the\nbusiness of dealing in firearms;\n(b) \"Materially false information\" means information that portrays an illegal\ntransaction as legal or a legal transaction as illegal; and\n(c) \"Private seller\" means a person who sells or offers for sale any firearm.\n(2) A person is guilty of fraudulent firearm transaction when he or she knowingly:\n(a) Solicits, persuades, encourages, or entices a licensed dealer or private seller of\nfirearms to transfer a firearm under circumstances which the person knows\nwould violate the laws of this Commonwealth or the United States;\n(b) Provides to a licensed dealer or private seller of firearms what the person\nknows to be materially false information with intent to deceive the dealer or\nseller about the legality of a transfer of a firearm; or\n(c) Procures another to engage in conduct prohibited by this section.\n(3) Fraudulent firearm transaction is a Class D felony.","path":["KRS Chapter 527"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=40561","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:04Z","sha256":"8532da3401c4e3dbe6577b947740c869ddb050f43034c6fdbdbcadbe75f08e71","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-527.080","next":"us-ky/krs-527.100"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
