{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-529.140","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 529.140","heading":"Human trafficking victims fund.","body":"(1) The \"human trafficking victims fund,\" referred to in this section as the \"fund,\" is\ncreated as a separate revolving fund within the Office of the Attorney General.\n(2) The fund shall consist of proceeds from assets seized and forfeited pursuant to KRS\n529.150; proceeds from the fee in KRS 529.130; proceeds from penalties collected\nunder KRS 183.075, 219.085, 277.410, and 281.767; grants; contributions;\nappropriations; and any other moneys that may be made available for purposes of\nthe fund.\n(3) Moneys in th e fund shall be distributed to agencies serving victims of human\ntrafficking, including but not limited to law enforcement agencies, prosecutorial\nagencies, and victim service agencies. The Office of the Attorney General shall\npromulgate administrative reg ulations to develop procedures for distributing funds\npursuant to this section. The administrative regulations shall require that:\n(a) The Office of the Attorney General use funds received to maintain programs\nfor the prevention of human trafficking, provi de education, training, or public\noutreach programs about human trafficking, and conduct human trafficking\ninvestigations. The Office of the Attorney General may recoup costs for\nconducting any programs or trainings; and\n(b) The Cabinet for Health and Family Services use funds received to serve minor\nvictims of human trafficking under KRS 620.029.\n(4) Notwithstanding KRS 45.229, any moneys remaining in the fund at the close of the\nfiscal year shall not lapse but shall be carried forward into the succeeding fiscal\nyear to be used for the purposes set forth in this section.\n(5) Any interest earnings on moneys in the fund shall become a part of the fund and\nshall not lapse to the general fund.\n(6) Moneys in the fund are hereby appropriated for the purposes set forth in this\nsection.","path":["KRS Chapter 529"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54886","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:04Z","sha256":"4ae2c8762f83d585ddda72b8c16e44941fbccc5f08765585e17c77bf711d7257","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-529.130","next":"us-ky/krs-529.150"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
