{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-532.020","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 532.020","heading":"Designation of offenses.","body":"(1) Any offense defined outside this code for which a law outside this code provides a\nsentence to a term of imprisonment in the state for:\n(a) At least one (1) but not more than five (5) years shall be deemed a Class D\nfelony;\n(b) At least five (5) but not mo re than ten (10) years shall be deemed a Class C\nfelony;\n(c) At least ten (10) but not more than twenty (20) years shall be deemed a Class\nB felony;\n(d) For at least twenty (20) but not more than fifty (50) years or for life shall be\ndeemed a Class A felony.\n(2) Any offense defined outside this code for which a law outside this code provides a\nsentence to a definite term of imprisonment with a maximum which falls between\nninety (90) days and twelve (12) months shall be deemed a Class A misdemeanor.\n(3) Any offense defined outside this code for which a law outside this code provides a\nsentence to a definite term of imprisonment with a maximum of less than ninety\n(90) days shall be deemed a Class B misdemeanor.\n(4) Any offense defined outside this code for whi ch a law outside this code provides a\nsentence to a fine only or to any other punishment, whether in combination with a\nfine or not, other than death or imprisonment shall be deemed a violation.","path":["KRS Chapter 532"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=20028","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:05Z","sha256":"6e869b901b892bc6b501ff7c402c0802e0ac3d643c97458991b95d78a3f67009","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-532.010","next":"us-ky/krs-532.025"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
