{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-56.140","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 56.140","heading":"Investment of insurance fund.","body":"(1) The State Treasurer, with approval of every investment by the cabinet, may invest\nthe Commonwealth's property and casualty insurance fund in:\n(a) Obligations of the United States government, its agencies, and Kentucky cities\nof the first and home rule classes;\n(b) Warrants issued on the State Treasurer;\n(c) State bonds, including bridge revenue bonds issued under KRS 180.010 to\n180.250;\n(d) Bonds or other evidences of indebtedness of any domestic corporation that is\nan agent or instrumentality of the state or of any city, county, or school district\nof the state, secured by a mortgage on real estate in Kentucky that has been\nconveyed to the corporation by any city, county, school district, or state\neducational institution, and which the corporation has leased  and given the\noption to lease to the city, county, school district, or state educational\ninstitution, with option in the lessee to purchase the property, or an interest\ntherein, on the payment of the aggregate sum of the bond issue, plus the\nexpenses inci dent to the issuance of the bonds and the formation and\ndissolution of the corporation, subject to credit of the amounts paid as rental\nfor such property; and\n(e) School bonds issued by cities under KRS 162.120 to 162.290.\n(2) The cabinet shall not approve investments on which there has ever been a default in\npayment of principal or interest preceding the date of acceptance by the State\nTreasurer.\n(3) All income from investments credited to the Commonwealth's property and\ncasualty insurance fund shall be credited to that fund.","path":["KRS Chapter 56"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=56051","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:10Z","sha256":"25348e284b1aa0c4ac6c449715fe9fdc9341b3fd3dd1319783a82dfac4be511d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-56.130","next":"us-ky/krs-56.150"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
