{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-56.865","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 56.865","heading":"Designation of alternates by commission members -- Scope of authority --","body":"Joint certificate concerning designation.\n(1) Each member of the commission may designate, by an instrument in writing over\nthe member's signature and filed with the commission as  a public record, an\nalternate with full authority to:\n(a) Attend, in the absence of the appointing member for any reason, any properly-\nconvened meeting of the commission; and\n(b) Participate in the consideration of, and voting upon, business and transacti ons\nof the commission.\n(2) Any designation of an alternate may, at the appointing member's direction:\n(a) Be limited upon the face of the appointing instrument to be effective only for\na designated meeting or only for specified business;\n(b) Be shown on the face of the appointing instrument to be on a continuing basis,\nbut in no case for a period of more than four (4) years, whenever the\nappointing member is unable to attend;\n(c) Be revoked by the appointing member in an instrument of like formality,\nsimilarly filed with the secretary as a public record of the commission.\n(3) Any party transacting business with the commission or materially affected by the\ncommission shall be entitled to accept and rely upon a joint certificate of the\nsecretary of the commiss ion and any member of the commission concerning the\ndesignation of any alternate, the time and scope of designation, and if of a\ncontinuing nature, whether the designation has been revoked, and when. The joint\ncertificate shall be made and delivered to the  party within a reasonable time after\nwritten request is made with acceptable identification of the business or transaction\nreferred and of the requesting party's interest.\n(4) Each alternate shall be a person on the staff of the appointing member or shall  be in\nthe employ of the appointing member's agency or department of the government of\nthe Commonwealth.","path":["KRS Chapter 56"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=22738","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:12Z","sha256":"9cd06415b434b87dbfc3102247d5ed9e3c71e683f00fb80dd197fbeef4914280","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-56.864","next":"us-ky/krs-56.866"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
