{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-56.990","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 56.990","heading":"Penalties.","body":"(1) Any person who violates any of the provisions of KRS 56.250 shall be fined not\nless than fifty dollars ($50) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500) for each\noffense.\n(2) Any person who commits a moving traffic violation of any regulation of the\nFinance and Administration Cabinet governing the operation and use of motor\nvehicles on the grounds of a state -owned building, shall upon conviction be fined\nnot less than two dollars ($2) nor more than fifteen dollars ($15); provided,\nhowever, that if such person  is found guilty of violating any provision of such\nregulation for which the mandatory or discretionary revocation of drivers' licenses is\nprescribed by KRS 186.560 and KRS 186.570, then the penalty for such violation\nshall be the same as that prescribed by the law applicable to such offense.\n(3) (a) Any individual who willfully violates any of the provisions of KRS 56.8181\nshall be guilty of a felony and shall be punished by a fine of not less than five\nthousand dollars ($5,000) nor more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000), or by\nimprisonment in the penitentiary for not less than one (1) year nor more than\nfive (5) years, or both.\n(b) Any firm, corporation, or association which willfully violates any of the\nprovisions of KRS 56.8181 shall be fined not less than ten thousand dollars\n($10,000) nor more than twenty thousand dollars ($20,000). The assessment\nof a fine under this paragraph shall not prevent the punishment of an\nindividual under paragraph (a) of this subsection.\n(4) Any individual, including any e mployee or official of the Commonwealth of\nKentucky, who willfully violates a provision of KRS 56.800 to 56.823, other than\none found in KRS 56.8181, shall be punished by a fine of not more than one\nthousand dollars ($1,000), or by imprisonment in the peni tentiary for not more than\none (1) year, or both.\n(5) Any employee or official of the Commonwealth of Kentucky who shall willfully\ntake, receive, or offer to take or receive, either directly or indirectly, anything of\nvalue, as an inducement, or intended i nducement, in the awarding of a state lease\npursuant to KRS 56.800 to 56.823, shall be guilty of a felony and shall be punished\nby a fine not to exceed five thousand dollars ($5,000), or imprisonment in the\npenitentiary for not less than one (1) year nor more than ten (10) years, or both.\n(6) (a) Any individual willfully offering to make, pay, or give, either directly or\nindirectly, anything of value, as an inducement, or intended inducement, in the\nawarding of a lease pursuant to KRS 56.800 to 56.823, to a ny employee or\nofficial of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, shall be guilty of a felony and\nshall be punished by a fine not to exceed five thousand dollars ($5,000) or by\nimprisonment in the penitentiary for not less than one (1) year nor more than\nten (10) years, or both.\n(b) Any firm, corporation, or association willfully offering to make, pay, or give,\neither directly or indirectly, anything of value, as an inducement, or intended\ninducement, in the awarding of a lease, to any employee or official of the\nCommonwealth of Kentucky, shall be punished by a fine of not less than ten\nthousand dollars ($10,000) nor more than twenty thousand dollars ($20,000).\nThe assessment of a fine under this paragraph shall not prevent the\npunishment of an individual under paragraph (a) of this subsection.\n(7) (a) Any person who is convicted of or enters a guilty plea for a crime established\nin subsections (3) to (6) of this section shall be subject to the penalty\nestablished in paragraph (b) of this subsection in addition to the  penalties\nestablished in those subsections.\n(b) For a period of five (5) years from the date of a person's conviction or the\nentering of a person's guilty plea, the Commonwealth shall not rent real\nproperty from a firm that employs the person or in which the person has any\nownership interest.","path":["KRS Chapter 56"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=22748","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:12Z","sha256":"813a38d8b06b0209bfb358d534284efb5c93add75eb56057e33aae51cf9ae4a8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-56.874","next":"us-ky/krs-57.010"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
