{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-6.711","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 6.711","heading":"Orientation courses for legislators.","body":"(1) The commission shall design the general curriculum of orientation courses, which\nshall include but not be limited to explanations and discussions of the ethics laws,\nadministrative regulations, relevant internal policies, specific technical and legal\nrequirements, summaries of advisory opinions, underlying purposes and principles\nof ethics laws, examples of practical application of the laws and principles, and a\nquestion-and-answer participatory segment regarding common problems and\nsituations. The commissi on shall prepare the methods and materials necessary to\nimplement the curriculum.\n(2) The commission shall:\n(a) Administer the orientation courses for legislators;\n(b) Designate instructors to conduct their courses who shall be trained by the\ncommission; and\n(c) Notify legislators regarding attendance in these courses.\n(3) The orientation courses shall be conducted for new legislators in December of each\neven-numbered year. Each course shall be at least two (2) hours in length and shall\nbe designed for appr oval by the Kentucky Bar Association for continuing legal\neducation credits which the bar association may require.\n(4) To facilitate participant interaction, those portions of the courses dedicated to group\nparticipation may be closed to the public.\n(5) Each legislator shall complete the initial orientation course offered under this\nsection. Each legislator elected after the initial orientation course shall complete the\nnext orientation course conducted.
