{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-6.827","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 6.827","heading":"Dispute resolution with respect to statements of expenditures and statements","body":"of financial transactions -- Civil liability for false information.\n(1) An employer or legislative agent who is required to file a statement describing an\nexpenditure or a fina ncial transaction shall deliver a copy of the statement to the\nofficial with whom or for whose benefit the transaction was made at least ten (10)\ndays before the date on which the statement is filed.\n(2) If a dispute arises between any member of the Genera l Assembly or a member of\nthe staff of the General Assembly and an employer or legislative agent with respect\nto an expenditure or financial transaction alleged in a statement to be filed under\nKRS 6.821 or 6.824, the member, employer, or legislative agent  may file a\ncomplaint with the commission. The commission shall proceed to investigate the\ncomplaint in the same manner as set out in KRS 6.686. The commission shall notify\nthe parties of its final decision by certified mail. If the commission decides the\ndisputed expenditure or financial transaction should be reported, the employer or\nlegislative agent shall include the matter in an amended statement and file the\namended statement not later than ten (10) days after the employer or agent receives\nnotice of the decision of the committee by certified mail.\n(3) An employer or legislative agent who files a false statement of expenditures or\ndetails of a financial transaction is liable in a civil action to any official or employee\nwho sustains damage as a result of the filing or publication of the statement.","path":["KRS Chapter 6"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=407","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:25Z","sha256":"f32dad952f3c692f14a2a8a89cff90b4a4a1c68ab02e9efde70f4361c6e2df6b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-6.825","next":"us-ky/krs-6.829"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
