{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-6.900","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 6.900","heading":"Definitions for KRS  6.900 to 6.935.","body":"As used in KRS 6.900 to 6.935:\n(1) \"Committee\" means the Legislative Oversight and Investigations Committee;\n(2) \"Investigation\" means an inquiry into possible acts of impropriety in the use of\npublic funds or performance of public duty by a person;\n(3) \"Person\" means:\n(a) A current or former elected or appointed state official;\n(b) A state agency;\n(c) A current or former state employee;\n(d) A  contractor who has responded to a request for proposal by a state\nagency, including those offered under KRS Chapter 45A;\n(e) An  individual or entity responding to a request for contract by a state\nagency, including a personal service contract; or\n(f) Any  private individual or entity doing business with anyone listed in\nparagraphs (a) to (e) of this subsection;\n(4) \"Review\" means  a noninvestigative study of the operation, accomplishments,\nmanagement,  or activities of an agency or program and includes procedures\nsuch  as  fiscal audit, program/performance evaluation, program  audit,\nmanagement  audit, policy analysis, or other related terms;\n(5) \"Study\" means  any investigation or review initiated or undertaken by the\ncommittee; and\n(6) \"State agency\" means:\n(a) Any  entity, including multijurisdictional organization or interagency\nentities, created by the Constitution of Kentucky, by an act of the General\nAssembly, or by any of the branches of state government or any of its\nsubdivisions, instrumentalities, or affiliated organizations, or by any\nemployee or official acting in his or her official capacity;\n(b) Any entity which receives any part of its funding or resources from state\ntax dollars, from funds or resources entrusted to the Commonwealth  from\nother sources, or from fines, fees, licensing, or penalties authorized by\nstate statute or administrative regulation;\n(c) Any entity which is federally funded and for which the Commonwealth  of\nKentucky is responsible for the oversight or expenditures of the federal\nresources;\n(d) That portion of a public or private entity which receives or has received\nresources, such as funds, equipment, property, supplies, or services,\ndirectly or indirectly from the Commonwealth  of Kentucky; and\n(e) That portion of a public or private entity related to the delivery of services\nto  or for the Commonwealth  of Kentucky  or an  entity of the\nCommonwealth  as defined in paragraph (a), (b), (c), or (d) of this\nsubsection.","path":["KRS Chapter 6"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=50689","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:25Z","sha256":"b05385468f4373db12fb97bfd3d473cdefe233394fb76234afbd9160ac06fa1d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-6.850","next":"us-ky/krs-6.905"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
