{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-6.920","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 6.920","heading":"Additional powers.","body":"(1) The committee, while in the discharge of its official duties, shall have the following\nadditional powers:\n(a) To subpoena and examine witnesses; to require the appearance of any person\nand the production of any paper or document; to order the appearance of  any\nperson for the purpose of producing any paper or document; and to issue all\nprocess necessary to compel such appearance or production. When such\nprocess has been served, the committee may compel obedience thereto by the\nattachment of the person, papers or records subpoenaed;\n(b) If any person fails or refuses to testify or furnish documentary evidence\nconcerning any matter with respect to which the committee desires\ninformation pertaining to the studies in which it is engaged, the Franklin\nCircuit Cour t, on application of the committee, may compel obedience by\nproceedings for contempt as in the case of disobedience of a subpoena issued\nfrom the Circuit Court or a refusal to testify therein;\n(c) To administer oaths to witnesses appearing before the commi ttee when, by a\nmajority vote, the committee deems the administration of an oath necessary\nand advisable as provided by law; and\n(d) To determine that a witness has perjured himself by testifying falsely before\nthe committee, and to institute appropriate p enal proceedings as provided by\nlaw.\n(2) Each witness who appears before the committee by its order, other than officer or\nemployee of the state, shall be entitled to the fees and mileage provided for\nwitnesses in civil cases in Circuit Courts, which shall  be audited and paid upon the\npresentation of proper vouchers sworn to by such witnesses and approved by the\nchairman of the committee.","path":["KRS Chapter 6"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=416","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:25Z","sha256":"d3294c58b014752d257953439a002bf17c5dcac6c1d31a297593de6bbe7aee91","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-6.916","next":"us-ky/krs-6.922"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
