{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-605.030","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 605.030","heading":"Duties of court-designated workers.","body":"(1) A court-designated worker may:\n(a) Receive complaints;\n(b) Review complaints taken by peace officers;\n(c) Investigate complaints except neglect, abuse, and dependency;\n(d) Perform an initial screening for human trafficking as defined in KRS 529.010\nfor referral to the cabinet for investigation as a case of dependency, neglect, or\nabuse;\n(e) Dispose of complaints limited to a total of three (3) status or nonfelony public\noffense complaints per child and, with written approval of the county\nattorney, one (1) felony complaint that does not involve the commission of a\nsexual offense or the use of a deadly weapon;\n(f) Administer oaths;\n(g) Issue summonses;\n(h) Issue subpoenas;\n(i) Make advisory dispositional recommendations and provide, within forty -eight\n(48) hours, exclusive of weekends and holidays, information concer ning a\nchild who has chosen to waive the investigation pursuant to KRS 610.100;\n(j) Perform any duties required by KRS Chapter 645;\n(k) Administer evidence -based screenings and assessments to identify the risk\nand needs of a child and his or her family;\n(l) Enter into diversion agreements, including referral to programs or service\nproviders, providing case management and service coordinati on, assisting\nwith barriers to completion, and monitoring progress;\n(m) Impose graduated sanctions, from least restrictive to most restrictive, in\nresponse to violations of the terms of a diversion agreement;\n(n) Gather information necessary to track and r ecord outcomes of all diversion\nagreement recommendations and final diversion disposition;\n(o) Collaborate and cooperate with the director of pupil personnel as appropriate,\nand service providers to ensure all appropriate interventions are utilized;\n(p) Report annually to his or her local public school districts and to the\nAdministrative Office of the Courts an inventory of all programs and service\nproviders within the judicial district they serve;\n(q) Request from the schools a student's education records pursuant to KRS\n17.125;\n(r) Coordinate the SOAR Program; and\n(s) Perform other functions related to activities of children as may be authorized\nor directed by the court.\n(2) Upon the filing of a petition which initiates a formal court action in the intere st of\nthe child, the court -designated worker's involvement, with the exception of the\nactivities defined in subsection (1)(i) of this section, shall cease.\n(3) When a child is to be tried as an adult, the court -designated worker need not make\ndispositional recommendations.","path":["KRS Chapter 605"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57483","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:06Z","sha256":"d37b28b28a54dcd15f842a149d4c7990985478004579b0497586b878c894f3d4","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-605.020","next":"us-ky/krs-605.035"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
