{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-605.170","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 605.170","heading":"Reporting of assaults, threats, and menacing conduct against client or staff","body":"-- Information system to track threats and violent incidents against staff --\nSafety liaisons.\n(1) Each staff member of the department shall report to his or her supervisor a ny\nphysical or verbal conduct of a client or an individual associated with a client that\nappears to be threatening or menacing, and any incident of assault, attempted\nassault, or physical contact that appears to be threatening to any staff member. Any\nuse or threat of use of any type of weapon shall be reported. The supervisor shall\nreport threat or incident information to the commissioner of the department or his or\nher designee. An employee who reports under this subsection shall be protected\nfrom reprisals pursuant to KRS 61.102.\n(2) The department shall establish and maintain an information system and track all\nreports of threats or incidents involving violence against department staff as\nrequired by subsection (1) of this section. The department shall p rovide, upon\nrequest, the number and type of reports received and any information available\nregarding civil or criminal action or changes to policies and procedures resulting\nfrom threats or incidents of violence upon staff.\n(3) The department shall design ate or establish a safety liaison position within its\ncentral office and in each regional office. The regional administrator may designate\nor establish a safety liaison position in each county office. The duties of the central\noffice safety liaison shall include but not be limited to:\n(a) Development and implementation of policies and procedures related to the\nprevention of violence in the office and in community settings;\n(b) Screening and assessment of the level of threat for professional -client\ninteractions;\n(c) Facilitation of safety training and safety and first alert protocols with all law\nenforcement agencies that work with each county office. Existing\nmultidisciplinary teams may be utilized in the development of local safety\nprotocols; and\n(d) Administration of a Web -based social worker safety site and a threat and\nviolence incident database.","path":["KRS Chapter 605"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=20127","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:07Z","sha256":"b5d2d9e61c030604e9da2659490b023519b4b09ecea20159e75c5ccfefe21fd1","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-605.160","next":"us-ky/krs-605.990"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
