{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-61.362","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 61.362","heading":"Agreement permitting peace officers to patrol private residential property","body":"to enforce state and local traffic and motor vehicle laws.\n(1) Any public police department, sheriff's office, or the Department of Kentucky State\nPolice may, upon written agree ment with a residential property owner or a\nresidential property owners' association, patrol the roadways and parking lots of\nprivate residential communities within the jurisdiction of the public police\ndepartment, sheriff's office, or the Department of Kentucky State Police and enforce\nthe traffic and motor vehicle laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and local\ntraffic and motor vehicle ordinances, on that residential private property.\n(2) This section shall not permit a public police department, sheriff's  office, or the\nDepartment of Kentucky State Police to enforce the private rules or regulations of\nthe residential property owner.\n(3) This section shall not limit any peace officer from coming on residential private\nproperty for the enforcement of the law , provided that the entry upon residential\nprivate property is consistent with the provisions of the Constitution of the United\nStates, the Constitution of Kentucky, the Kentucky Revised Statutes, and applicable\ncourt decisions.","path":["KRS Chapter 61"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=22924","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:14Z","sha256":"181aa2407ff3b1eddb3fd4cd610691fc16205c770a238b72f3ddae70ba67a2d2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-61.360","next":"us-ky/krs-61.365"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
