(Effective April 1, 2021)\n(1) Effective April 1, 2021:\n(a) Except as provided by KRS 61.505, the administration of the County\nEmployees Retirement System shall be transferred from the Kentucky\nRetirement Systems board of trustees to the County Employees Retirement\nSystem board of trustees established by KRS 78.782.\n(b) Except as provided by KRS 61.505, the administration of the Kentucky\nEmployees Retirement System and the State Police Retirement System shall\ncontinue to be the responsibility of the Kentucky Retirement Systems board of\ntrustees as amended by KRS 61.645.\n(c) The Kentucky Public Pensions Authority established by KRS 61.505 shall\nprovide personnel needs, day -to-day administrative needs, and other duties\nspecified by KRS 61.505 to the Kentucky Retirement Systems board of\ntrustees and the County Employees Retirement System board of trustees. The\nstaff of the Kentucky Retirement Systems shall become the staff of the\nKentucky Public Pensions Authority.\n(2) It is the intent of the General Assembly to enact leg islation in the 2021 Regular\nSession to create separate statutory structures as it relates to benefits for the\nKentucky Retirement Systems and the County Employees Retirement System that\nare currently shared by the Kentucky Employees Retirement System, the  County\nEmployees Retirement System, and the State Police Retirement System while\nretaining shared statutes that relate to administrative provisions that will be the\nresponsibility of the Kentucky Public Pensions Authority.","path":["KRS Chapter 61"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=50529","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:15Z","sha256":"64cb4a0137717bd5629e511279896b0a9971d6cc357ad5273548278f51d126b6","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-61.645","next":"us-ky/krs-61.650"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
