{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-61.902","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 61.902","heading":"Appointment of special law enforcement officers by secretary.","body":"(1) The secretary of the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet may commission special law\nenforcement officers, for such time as he or she deems necessary, to protect and to\nenforce the law on public property.\n(2) Notwithstanding subsection (1) of this section, in  the case of a special law\nenforcement officer employed as a school resource officer, the commission shall be\nfor four (4) years, provided the officer continues to meet all statutory and regulatory\nrequirements.\n(3) Upon application of a unit or agency of state, county, city or metropolitan\ngovernment, the secretary may appoint those persons recommended by the unit or\nagency who satisfy the requirements of KRS 61.900 to 61.930.","path":["KRS Chapter 61"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=49800","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:16Z","sha256":"449c3e8f9dc24f12b027dd93ffbc86703a339078ea60c31d30aa763a870b85ba","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-61.900","next":"us-ky/krs-61.904"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
