{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-610.170","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 610.170","heading":"Court-ordered child support.","body":"If it appears from the investigation required in KRS 610.100 or otherwise that the parent\nor other person exercising custodial control or supervision of any child, or the estate of\nany child, who has been found to fall within the purview of KRS Chapters 600 to 645 and\nwho has been left in his own home or in the home of a relative, placed on probation or\nplaced in a foster home or boarding home, or in the care of a public or private facility or\nagency, or the Department of Juvenile Justice or the cabinet, is  able to contribute to the\nsupport of the child, the court shall enter an order requiring the parent or estate to pay a\nreasonable sum for the support, maintenance, or education of the child. The order shall\ndirect that the money be paid to the circuit clerk to be disbursed as ordered by the court or\nbe paid to the person, facility, agency, or the Department of Juvenile Justice or cabinet to\nwhich the child was committed or probated. On application and on such notice as the\ncourt may direct, the court may m ake alterations in the requirement for contribution. The\ncourt may issue such orders necessary to compel payment of the sum due. The\nenforcement of a sentence imposed on a parent who fails to comply with the order of the\ncourt may be suspended at the discr etion of the court, but the suspension may be revoked\nat the discretion of the court upon the failure of the parent to obey further orders of the\ncourt.
