{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-620.072","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS `620.072","heading":"Unannounced home visits concerning abused or neglected child --","body":"Conditions requiring -- Request for assistance in gaining access to child.\n(1) If the cabinet's initial determination as to the risk of harm to and immediate safety\nof an allege d abused or neglected child as defined in KRS 600.020 requires an\ninvestigation or assessment pursuant to administrative regulations promulgated by\nthe cabinet, including consideration of information on the nature and extent of a\npresent danger or threat of danger to the child or cabinet staff, and if:\n(a) The investigation requires a visit to the residence or location where the\nreported abuse or neglect occurred, the cabinet shall make the visit\nunannounced; or\n(b) The assessment requires a visit to the re sidence or location where the reported\nabuse or neglect occurred, the cabinet shall make the visit announced or\nunannounced;\nin addition to any other actions taken to protect the child.\n(2) If the initial visit is necessary, after it is completed, the cab inet shall incorporate\nunannounced visits with any necessary scheduled visits until the welfare of the\nchild has been safeguarded in accordance with administrative regulations\npromulgated by the cabinet.\n(3) If there is reason to believe a child is in immi nent danger, or if a parent or caretaker\nof a child refuses the cabinet entry to a child's home or refuses to allow a child to be\ninterviewed, the cabinet may request assistance:\n(a) From law enforcement; or\n(b) Through a request for a court order pursuant to KRS 620.040(5)(a).\n(4) A school or a child -care provider shall provide the cabinet access to a child subject\nto an investigation or assessment without parental consent.","path":["KRS Chapter 620"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=53979","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:08Z","sha256":"a57744722a6fdbff3f70f72466a532db18bae49650e297dafd04b69e6173c37b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-99a.990"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
