{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-620.190","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 620.190","heading":"Citizen foster care review boards -- Local citizen foster care review boards.","body":"(1) There shall be established within each judicial district a citizen foster care review\nboard to be appointed by the Chief District Judge or family court judge. T he Chief\nDistrict Judge or family court judge may authorize the creation of additional local\ncitizen foster care review boards as needed.\n(2) Each local citizen foster care review board shall consist of not less than three (3)\nmembers and shall be appointed according to the following guidelines:\n(a) All members shall have an interest in foster care or child welfare;\n(b) At least two (2) members of each local citizen foster care review board shall,\nas far as practicable, be chosen from among the following professions:\n1. Law;\n2. Medicine;\n3. Psychology;\n4. Social work; and\n5. Education;\n(c) Each local citizen foster care review board shall, as far as practicable, include\na foster parent;\n(d) All members of each local citizen foster care review board shall, as far as\npracticable, be representative of the socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic\ncomposition of the area served;\n(e) Employees of the Department for Community Based Services shall be\nprohibited from serving on the local citizen foster care review board;\n(f) All appointed board members shall serve a term of three (3) years, except that\nif a vacancy occurs, a successor shall be appointed to serve the unexpired\nterm. The term of each member shall expire on August 1 of the appropriate\nyear. Members may be reappointed and shall continue to serve until a\nsuccessor is appointed; and\n(g) All members shall be certified prior to appointment by the state citizen foster\ncare review board or its designee. For the purposes of this section, \"certified\"\nmeans acknowledgment of completion of initial training approved by the state\ncitizen foster care review board.\n(3) Local citizen foster care review board members may be removed for\nnonparticipation, failure to meet training requirements, or other cause as determined\nby the state citizen foster care review board in compliance with its constitution and\nbylaws.\n(4) Each local citizen foster care review board shall annually elect a chairman and vice\nchairman to serve in the absence of the chairman.\n(5) Each local citizen foster care review board shall meet, at a place designated by the\nChief District Judge or famil y court judge, as often as is deemed necessary to carry\nout the duties of the board.
