{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-620.500","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 620.500","heading":"Definitions for KRS 620.500 to 620.550.","body":"As used in KRS 620.500 to 620.550, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Association\" means the state Court -Appointed Special Advocate Association\nestablished in KRS 620.530, also known as the Kentucky CASA Network;\n(2) \"Court\" means family court or,  if there is no family court in the county where the\nCASA program is located, then District Court;\n(3) \"Court-appointed special advocate case\" and \"CASA case\" mean a child or group of\nsiblings who are within the jurisdiction of the court as a result of abu se, neglect, or\ndependency proceedings and for whom the court has appointed and the program\ndirector has assigned a CASA volunteer;\n(4) \"Court-appointed special advocate program\" and \"CASA program\" mean a program\nby which trained community volunteers are provided to the court for appointment to\nrepresent the best interests of children who have come into the court system as a\nresult of dependency, abuse, or neglect;\n(5) \"Court-appointed special advocate volunteer\" and \"CASA volunteer\" mean a person\nwho compl etes training through and is supervised by a CASA program and\nappointed by a judge to represent the best interests of dependent, abused, and\nneglected children in court;\n(6) \"Local board\" means the local board of directors appointed or selected in\naccordance with KRS 620.505 to govern local CASA programs;\n(7) \"Program director\" means the director of each local CASA program selected in\naccordance with KRS 620.505;\n(8) \"State board\" means the state board of directors elected in accordance with KRS\n620.530; and\n(9) \"State director\" means the director of the state association provided for in KRS\n620.537.","path":["KRS Chapter 620"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57387","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:08Z","sha256":"a631af029082be2f309ccefdb093016ed8ab670d792c5c36a3204e56b14efb02","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-620.365","next":"us-ky/krs-620.505"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
