{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-620.525","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 620.525","heading":"Duties of CASA volunteers.","body":"(1) CASA volunteers who have a conflict of interest in a case shall not be appointed to\nthe case.\n(2) The CASA volunteer shall:\n(a) Attend all court hearings except that the CASA volunteer may be excused by\nthe court or the program director if emergency circumstances arise;\n(b) Submit a written report and recommendation to the judge for consideration in\ndetermining the best interest of the child at the dispositional hearing,\ndispositional review hearings, other hearings as requested by the court, and at\nleast one (1) report every six (6) months for as long as the case is assigned to a\nCASA volunteer;\n(c) Monitor the case by visiting the child as often as necessary to observe whether\nthe child's essential needs are being met and whether court orders are actually\nbeing carried out;\n(d) Participate in any treatment planning conferences and reviews involving the\nchild to assess whether reasonable efforts are being made to provide services\nto the child and family and determine the appropriateness and progress of the\nchild's permanent plan;\n(e) Advocate a prompt, thorough review of the case if the child's circumstances\nwarrant the attention of the court;\n(f) Interview parties involved in the case, including interviewing and observing\nthe child;\n(g) Maintain complete written records about the case;\n(h) Report any incidents of child or adult abuse or neglect to the appropriate\nauthorities and to the program director;\n(i) Remain actively involved in the case until dismissed from the case by the\nprogram director or judge wit h competent jurisdiction, or when an adoption\nproceeding is finalized;\n(j) Return all case -related materials including, but not limited to, written notes,\ncourt reports, and agency documents, to the program director upon the request\nof the program director; and\n(k) Work with the cabinet representatives to advocate the best interest of the\nchild.","path":["KRS Chapter 620"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=20232","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:08Z","sha256":"4312f00c6c9a10d3209c256ed2721d438f0069ccf2d457c688fa9ba61293986e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-620.520","next":"us-ky/krs-620.530"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
