{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-630.095","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 630.095","heading":"Detention of alleged or adjudicated status offender.","body":"(1) A child who is alleged to be a status offender, adjudicated as a status offender, or a\nstatus offender alleged or found to have violated a valid court order may be\ndetained as follows:\n(a) A child who is under fourteen (14) years old shall not be detained in a secure\njuvenile detention facility but may be detained in a nonsecure setting\napproved by the Department of Juvenile Justice; and\n(b) A child who is fourteen (14) years of age or older may be detained in a\nnonsecure setting approved by the Department of Juvenile Justice or a secure\njuvenile detention facility.\n(2) (a) Unless a shorter time period is established in this chapter or KRS Chapter\n610, any child who may be detained in a secure juvenile detention facility\nshall not be detained for longer than  seven (7) days unless a court makes\nwritten findings that further detention of the child is necessary for the\nprotection of the child or the community.\n(b) In no event shall the period of detention under paragraph (a) of this subsection\nexceed thirty (30) days.","path":["KRS Chapter 630"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57486","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:09Z","sha256":"386089cad5bf2aa5e7aba6982ac0e995fb8ec6c594b019fd5ea766e744568ec2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-630.090","next":"us-ky/krs-630.100"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
