{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-64.527","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 64.527","heading":"Annual computation of consumer price index for determination of rate of","body":"adjustment of compensation of certain elected county officials.\nIn order to equate the compensation of jailers who do not operate full service jails,\nconstables in counties having an urban-county form of government, justices of the peace,\ncounty commissioners, and coroners with the purchasing power of the dollar, the\nDepartment for Local Government shall compute by the second Friday in February of\nevery year the annual increase or d ecrease in the consumer price index of the preceding\nyear by using 1949 as the base year in accordance with Section 246 of the Constitution of\nKentucky which provides that the above elected officials shall be paid at a rate no greater\nthan seven thousand t wo hundred dollars ($7,200) per annum. The Department for Local\nGovernment shall notify the appropriate governing bodies charged by law to fix the\ncompensation of the above elected officials of the annual rate of compensation to which\nthe elected officials  are entitled in accordance with the increase or decrease in the\nconsumer price index.
