{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-645.180","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 645.180","heading":"Convalescent leave for involuntary patient -- Rehospitalization.","body":"(1) Upon notice to the court, an authorized staff physician may release an involuntary\npatient on convalescent leave not to exceed ninety (90) days. The physician may\nauthorize convalescent leave only if he concludes that the patient would not present\na danger or a threat of danger to himself or others during such a leave. Release on\nconvalescent leave shall terminate the involuntary hospitalization order and shall\ninclude provisions for a jointly developed treatment plan by the hospital and by the\nprovider of outpatient care who will provide follow -up care and the continual\nmonitoring of the patient's condition by the provider.\n(2) If there is reason to believe that the patient meets the criteria for involuntary\nhospitalization, the cabinet, an authorized staff  physician of the hospital or other\ninterested person may file a petition for certification or may proceed with an\nemergency hospitalization under KRS 645.120.\n(3) At the conclusion of a convalescent leave, the child may be readmitted to the\nhospital voluntarily, the child may be discharged or, if appropriate, the cabinet, an\nauthorized staff physician, or other interested person may file a petition for\ncertification or may proceed with an emergency hospitalization under KRS 645.120.","path":["KRS Chapter 645"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=20341","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T21:00:10Z","sha256":"eb55778fe4f00db965acbc092f7fe6d6fa1be7ef5dae1d88ae5d771e02d547a1","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-645.170","next":"us-ky/krs-645.190"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
