{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-65.009","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 65.009","heading":"Ex officio member of district governing body -- Designation by fiscal court.","body":"(1) Except where the law provides that fiscal court members may serve as members of\na district's governing body, the fiscal court of the county in which the greater\nportion of the district's population lies may, by resolution, designate one of its\nmembers to serve as an ex officio member of a district's governing body. Fiscal\ncourt members shall be eligible for ex officio membership on a district's governing\nbody regardless of residency, political affiliation or other restrictions on board\nmembership.\n(2) The fiscal court shall notify the district of the designation of an ex officio member\nof the governing body and the district shall provide the ex officio member with\nnotice of all regular and special meetings of the district's governing body.\n(3) An ex off icio member of a district's governing body designated pursuant to this\nsection shall not be counted in determining a quorum nor shall he vote on matters\nbefore the district's governing body.\n(4) An ex officio member of a district's governing body designate d pursuant to this\nsection shall receive no compensation or reimbursement for expenses for attending\nmeetings of the district's governing body.\n(5) An ex officio member of a district's governing body designated pursuant to this\nsection shall serve in such capacity at the pleasure of the fiscal court.\n(6) The provisions of this section shall not apply to a district established by a city or\ncities.","path":["KRS Chapter 65"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=41764","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:19Z","sha256":"f32b30f3a20846acf6c1ef2a865055fe3a4acb4cf8e45ffc62fbd5c98b8bdd78","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-65.008","next":"us-ky/krs-65.010"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
