{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-65.135","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 65.135","heading":"Legislative intention to occupy field regarding violations of KRS 439.3401","body":"and KRS 17.500.\n(1) It is the intent of the General Assembly to occupy the entire field of legislation\nrelating to:\n(a) Any person who has committed or is charged with the commi ssion of a\nviolent offense as specified in KRS 439.3401; and\n(b) Any person who has committed or is charged with commission of a sex crime\nas specified in KRS 17.500.\n(2) No city, county, urban -county, charter county, consolidated local government, or\nother unit or instrumentality of local government shall enact an ordinance or other\nrule or regulation relating to the control, management, registration, monitoring, or\nhousing of, or other matter relating to, a person specified in subsection (1) of this\nsection.\n(3) The fact that the General Assembly has not regulated a particular subject relating to\na person specified in subsection (1) of this section does not grant a city, county,\nurban-county, charter county, consolidated local government, or other unit or\ninstrumentality of local government the authority to enact an ordinance, rule, or\nregulation relating to that subject.\n(4) Cities, counties, urban -counties, charter counties, consolidated local governments,\nand units and instrumentalities of local governme nt shall enforce the provisions of\nstate law with regard to persons specified in subsection (1) of this section.\n(5) On July 12, 2006, any local ordinance, resolution, or rule relating to any topic\nspecified in this section shall be null, void, and unenforceable.","path":["KRS Chapter 65"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=23341","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:20Z","sha256":"faedcd9f406591169d5b5c36d9921a214c032ace0ee6cd5cf89f6da565c9f4d2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-65.134","next":"us-ky/krs-65.140"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
