{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-65.230","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 65.230","heading":"Definitions for KRS 65.210 to 65.300.","body":"As used in KRS 65.210 to 65.300, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Interlocal agency\" means a separate legal or administrative entity with a governing\nboard that is created in an agreement entered into by public agencies pursuant to the\nprovisions of KRS 65.210 to 65.300;\n(2) \"Local government\" means any:\n(a) City;\n(b) County;\n(c) Consolidated local government;\n(d) Urban-county government;\n(e) Charter county government; or\n(f) Unified local government;\n(3) \"Municipal interlocal gas utility\" means an interlocal agency whose membership is\nonly composed of city governments formed for the purpose of constructing and\noperating a system that is capable of acquiring, distributing, transmitting,\nfurnishing, or selli ng natural gas to a federal military installation, municipal\nutilities, and other industrial and commercial customers; and\n(4) \"Public agency\" means:\n(a) Any local government;\n(b) Any political subdivision of this state or of another state;\n(c) Any agency,  board instrumentality, or commission created by a local\ngovernment;\n(d) Any taxing district as defined by KRS 65.180;\n(e) Any special purpose government entity as defined in KRS 65A.010(9)(a) to\n(c), including those entities that are exempt from the defin ition of special\npurpose governmental entity under the provisions of KRS 65A.010(9)(d)7. to\n9.;\n(f) Any interlocal agency;\n(g) The Commonwealth or any agency or instrumentality of the state government\nor of the United States, including but not limited to a  state-supported\ninstitution of higher education;\n(h) Any county school district or independent school district; and\n(i) Any private institution of higher education entering into an agreement\nauthorized by KRS 65.240(4) with another public agency.","path":["KRS Chapter 65"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57961","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:20Z","sha256":"259bc935bd6c70925a8f43d2a45b1c5b3374c7c78386f334f7019c9620833ce7","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-65.220","next":"us-ky/krs-65.240"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
