{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-65.493","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 65.493","heading":"Development areas for tax increment financing -- Qualifications.","body":"(1) A county containing a city of the first class or a city of the first class may establish a\ndevelopment area for the purpose of creating a pilot program to utilize tax\nincrement financing or a grant program based upon the increment in state tax\nrevenues for the redevelopment and revitalization of these development areas within\ntheir communities.\n(2) A development area in a county containing a city of the first class shall be located\nwithin ten (10) miles of the central business district of the largest city w ithin the\ncounty and shall be within one (1) mile of one (1) or more economic development\nassets having employers, with at least one thousand (1,000) employees, who will\nleverage and promote investment in the zone.\n(3) A development area in a county contai ning a city of the first class shall have\nadequate roads, sewers, water, rail service, and an interstate highway interchange\ndirectly available.\n(4) At least fifty percent (50%) of a development area in a county containing a city of\nthe first class, exclud ing roads, utility easements, and other infrastructure -related\nimprovements, shall be composed of land that is a brownfield site or other land\ncompatible for industrial or commercial uses to permit and facilitate redevelopment\nand reuse of land in the deve lopment area compatible with the adjacent economic\ndevelopment assets.","path":["KRS Chapter 65"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=23418","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:21Z","sha256":"f9496a8caa4a78bb752ed0a5f462cfff7e0ff49c06d25e4ca1b4dd03672ea162","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-65.491","next":"us-ky/krs-65.4931"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
