{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-65.7043","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 65.7043","heading":"Purposes of KRS  65.7041 to 65.7083.","body":"The purposes of KRS 65.7041 to 65.7083 are as follows:\n(1) KRS  65.7047 provides authority for cities and counties to establish local\ndevelopment areas for the development of previously undeveloped land within\ntheir jurisdictional boundaries and to devote local resources to support the\ndevelopment of projects in those local development areas. Local development\nareas established under KRS  65.7047 and projects within local development\nareas shall not be eligible for participation by the Commonwealth; and\n(2) (a) KRS  65.7049, 65.7051, and 65.7053 provide a framework for cities and\ncounties:\n1. To establish development areas for:\na. The  redevelopment of previously developed land within their\njurisdictional boundaries; and\nb. The development of previously undeveloped land, if:\ni. The  project proposed for the development area includes\nan arena as part of the proposed development;\nii. The  project is a mixed-use development located in a\nuniversity research park;\niii. The  project is a mixed-use development located within\nthree (3) miles of a military base that houses, deploys, or\nemploys any combination of at least twenty-five thousand\n(25,000) military personnel, their families, military retirees,\nor civilian employees;\niv. The  project is a mixed-use development which includes\neither or both significant public storm water and sanitary\nsewer  facilities designed  to  comply  with  a\ncommunity-wide court decree mandating corrective action\nby the local government or an agency thereof; or\nv. The  project is a mixed-use development that includes a\ntract of previously undeveloped land that was owned by a\nliberal arts educational institution within four (4) years\nprior to April 10, 2017, and the previously undeveloped\nland is bounded on one (1) side by a four (4) lane United\nStates highway on April 10, 2017. No  more than fifty\npercent (50%) of the previously undeveloped land shall\nbe used for qualified mixed uses; and\n2. To  devote local resources to providing redevelopment assistance\nand supporting projects in those development areas.\n(b) Projects within development areas established pursuant to KRS  65.7049,\n65.7051,  and  65.7053  shall be  eligible for participation by  the\nCommonwealth  if such  projects meet  the  requirements  for\nCommonwealth  participation established by Subchapter 30  of KRS\nChapter 154.","path":["KRS Chapter 65"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=45644","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:22Z","sha256":"272199633a216763bde2dd7b54ab69132a93f0c63c0238e07c5e90d68975863d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-65.7041","next":"us-ky/krs-65.7044"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
