{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-65.8821","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 65.8821","heading":"Powers of board.","body":"Each code enforcement board shall have the power to:\n(1) Adopt rules and regulations to govern its operation and the conduct of its hearings\nthat are consistent with the requirements of KRS 65.8801 to 65.8839 and\nordinances of the local government or local governments creating the board;\n(2) Conduct hearings, o r assign a hearing officer to conduct a hearing, to determine\nwhether there has been a violation of any local government ordinance that the board\nhas jurisdiction to enforce;\n(3) Subpoena alleged violators, witnesses, and evidence to its hearings. Subpoena s\nissued by the board, or an assigned hearing officer, may be served by any code\nenforcement officer;\n(4) Take testimony under oath. The chairman of the board, or an assigned hearing\nofficer, shall have the authority to administer oaths to witnesses prior to their\ntestimony before the board on any matter;\n(5) Make findings and issue orders that are necessary to remedy any violation of a local\ngovernment ordinance that the board has jurisdiction to enforce; and\n(6) Impose civil fines as authorized by ordinan ce on any person found to have violated\nany ordinance that the board has jurisdiction to enforce.","path":["KRS Chapter 65"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=45191","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:23Z","sha256":"dec46ea0fdde9fa68655ff5eb7cd2e925437f404382e4f54a6c185c9afe5f697","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-65.8818","next":"us-ky/krs-65.8823"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
